As you may know, Outrank.com and ProfitFuel were recently named one of Austin Business Journal’s Best Places to Work 2010, and we celebrated the best way we know how: on a boat!
Not just any boat – a huge party barge on Lake Travis here in Austin. This will mark the third year in a row that we have taken all of our employees out on the lake for some fun and a whole lot of sun.
With the adventure starting at 5 pm, we all set sail into the afternoon with plenty of food and drink for everyone. “It was nice to be able to relax with my fellow coworkers, and especially our senior management,” says Andi, a sales agent here at Outrank.com.
At Outrank, we feel that it is very important to reward our employees for the hard work that they do on a daily basis, and the Party Barge is just one of many ways we like to show our appreciation.

That’s right: To beat the summer heat, we here at Outrank.com thought it would be a great idea to once again set up a Dunk Tank in our parking lot and let the employees have at their managers and peers. What a great time!
All week, employees earned chances to try and dunk the manager of their choice – the excitement was palpable. “I couldn’t wait!” says Mark, one of our Account Managers. “I just couldn’t decide who I wanted to try my hand at dunking; I wanted to get them all!”
After the management team had their turn, a few of the braver employees ventured into the tank, daring their counterparts to have a go. By the end of the day, there was hardly a dry person left in the parking lot, but it was all worth it!

We celebrated the summer the Hawaiian way today with the ProfitFuel and Outrank.com bbb-est lunch luau ever. It was boat-fulls of fun!
With an amazing lunch of pineapple-glazed ham and mango braised ribs, accompanied by the most delicious spinach and strawberry salad, and a subtle Hawaiian reggae soundtrack to set the mood, our employees certainly got the full island treatment.
“It was like being on vacation,” says Outrank.com’s Queen of Culture, a position the company created to ensure employees enjoy coming to work every day. “You really felt as though you were whisked off to an island getaway!”
It was also a great opportunity for everyone to have lunch in the break room, dressed to the nines in their best Hawaiian shirts. Leis abounded – today was truly a lovely luau.

Since it’s been raining quite a bit lately, when we have a nice day at Outrank.com, we enjoy it! And that is just what we did last week with our team.
In the morning, to energize and motivate, we had all employees meet outside for the egg relay race of the century.
Sorted into six teams, each with their own spoon and one plastic egg packed with five pennies each, the ProfitFuelians were ready for action. As soon as we gave the go-ahead, they were off!
The goal of the race was to successfully pass the plastic egg from team member to team member while running the course and make it back to the starting line with all five pennies intact. If you dropped your egg, you had to make sure all five pennies were back in the egg before continuing.
There were many cries of joy, and some of anguish, but after the dust settled there was one victorious team. And to the victors, went the breakfast tacos.
Good job team!

The lucky sixteen Outrank.com employees who were fortunate enough to win a trip to Canon City, Colorado recently got back to work, and the buzz is palpable.
The trip started off great. Arriving in Colorado late Friday night, the team rested up and were ready to hit the river early Saturday morning. They were ready, but the weather was not. With heavy rains and yes, even hail to face, the team pushed on and hit the river despite the less-than-ideal conditions.
“The rafting trip was both exciting and challenging,” says Tim, Sr VP of Sales and Operations here at ProfitFuel. “The lower stretch of the river is among some of the toughest water in the western US….and we conquered it in the rain and hail.”
And conquered it they did. After the long day on the water, the team had some free time to sight-see on Sunday and chose to spend some time at Seven Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls this side of the US. Jody, one of the winning sales agents, said, “the falls were beautiful, but more importantly, the sun was out that day, and I think we were all happy to see it!”.
Despite the weather, the trip was a huge success, as everyone was excited to share many stories upon their return. Jason, our winning Development Supervisor, sums it up the best: “Rafting the Arkansas river at full capacity was one of the most intense moments I can remember to date.”

ProfitFuel and Outrank.com hosted its annual Summer Family Picnic this past weekend at Beverly S. Sheffield Northwest District Park. The feedback we’ve received so far has been great!
We started the picnic off with beverages and laughs as people were arriving. The kids had their own area set up, complete with toys, games, music, candy, face painting and a snow cone machine. We didn’t forget about the adults either. We also had a myriad of prizes to give away to the employees in attendance, all of which went to some very happy attendees.
The food was amazing too. We had jalapeno brats, Kentucky-rubbed chicken and pork, and an avocado pesto pasta salad for the main course, followed by some homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
It was wonderful to see so many employees and their families out in the sun enjoying the day together. We are certainly looking forward to next year!

Since we made the Austin Business Journal’s Best Places to Work list once again, we will be taking our ProfitFuel family on the Lake Travis Party Boat this summer to celebrate! The Lake Travis Party Barge is one of the most popular traditions at ProfitFuel and Outrank.com, and we hope to continue to do it for many years to come.
The event kicks off just after work on a warm Friday as we set sail over the open waters of Lake Travis for a four hour adventure. We will have food and beverages, as well as music, dancing, swimming, games, and so much more! The pictures in this post are from our trip last year, and as you can see, everyone is having a blast.
We also just hired a new class of salespeople who fortunately joined us just in time for the event of the summer!
